2006
Dear Neighbor,
How's your 2006 going? The
calendar may show it's February, but the winter temps sure have been mild
haven't they? Maybe Tucker will get a light dusting of snow before
Spring!
Several news items have been forwarded by Henderson Road area neighbors.
I wanted to pass them along
to you. Please see below.
Kind regards,
Jenni,

Tucker's turn for a makeover
Did you see The
Atlanta Journal-Constitution,
February 2 issue? The cover page of the DeKalb section reads:
“Tucker's turn for a makeover ... Community aims to blend
progress, charm”
Here's a brief excerpt of the article
written by
Charles Yoo:
“Tucker is striving to
remake itself - not so much to be bigger, just better.
While their neighbors
in Dunwoody and Doraville contemplate goals like cityhood or annexation,
folks in the unincorporated north DeKalb community between I-85 and the
Stone Mountain Freeway are focused on more basic matters: better schools,
sidewalks, a place to walk the dog.
A loose assortment of
civic leaders, businessmen and several residents are working on several
fronts to improve the community of about 35,000 residents while retaining
its old-town charm."

What is Podcasting?
Podcasting
became popular in 2004. The name comes from combining two words: iPod, the Apple audio
player, and broadcasting. Many iPod owners play podcasts on their
machines, but podcasts can be played on any audio player that will store
and play the popular MP3 audio files or on a computer.
Many podcasts are available online, and many are free. Try visiting
the website of the company, radio station, or news personality that
interests you and maybe they offer a podcast.
To get started, try the following website: podcast.net
Type something you would find enjoyable in the SEARCH. If you see
something that piques your interest, click on the link for it and click on
the PLAY icon. Don’t forget to turn up your speakers.

GA's Move Over Law: Avoid a ticket ... Save a life
Georgia’s new Move-Over Law says drivers
must move-over for emergency vehicles stopped on the side of the highway.
The law is meant to keep officers AND traffic violators safe from crashes
with passing cars.
The Georgia Move-Over Law requires
drivers to move-over one lane when possible if an emergency vehicle with
flashing lights is parked on the shoulder of the highway. And if
traffic is too heavy to move-over safely, the law requires drivers to slow
down below the posted speed limit instead AND to be prepared to stop.

A real fraud warning concerning jury
duty
From Jannean B:
Hi - I wanted to pass this along
because unlike most forwarded messages regarding scams or frauds, this is
a real one. This scam would be amazingly simple to do and such a
call would seem authentic. Apparently reports began to circulate in
August and continue. This is a good one to warn our neighbors and
relatives about too.
Scam: Identity thieves trick the
unwary into revealing their personal details by telling them they've
failed to report for jury duty and warrants for their arrest are being
issued.
