"Each year in the
U.S., there are more than five million home burglaries. Nine out of ten of
these crimes are preventable. The risk of being burglarized can be greatly
reduced by taking simple steps to make your home more difficult to enter and
less enticing to would-be burglars. Remember the greatest weapons in the

The DeKalb County Police Department's
Office of Community Affairs offers several programs and resources for
communities and citizens of DeKalb. Each police precinct has a Public
Education Specialist who can provide information and education on a variety
of topics (crime awareness strategies and safety programs, assistance with
Neighborhood Watch programs and roundtables, and more).

What is a Neighborhood Watch?
Neighborhood
Watch is one of the most effective and least costly ways to prevent crime
and reduce fear. Neighborhood Watch fights the isolation that crime
both creates and feeds upon. It forges bonds among area residents,
helps reduce burglaries, entering autos, juvenile crimes, etc. Also,
it improves relations between police and the communities that they serve. |

How
can I help?
Whether the Neighborhood Watch Program is
officially active or inactive for all neighborhoods, we should still watch
out for each other. One of the purposes of the website is to alert the
community of suspicious activity.
If a neighbor sees or suspects criminal activity taking place, they should
first contact police by dialing 911.
Provide as many details as possible.
Please keep
your Henderson Road area neighbors informed and
send an email
to the
hendersonroad.com
mailbox.
Neighbors
without computer access may want to ask a neighbor to give them a courtesy
phone call when new notifications are posted.
