  • Revonda Moody, the project manager with DeKalb County Parks and Recreation Department and the Henderson Park master plan, transferred in May to a new project management role with Parks Operations.  Ms. Moody will continue to work with communities about Park improvements, including Henderson Park, and will also oversee the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts & Community Center.  On behalf of the Henderson Park community, we’d like to thank Ms. Moody for her leadership and guidance with the Master Plan.  She has transitioned the Henderson Park Master Plan to her colleague, John Bateman.  Revonda Moody’s contact information:  404.294.2890 or  rnmoody@dekalbcountyga.gov  John Bateman’s contact information is:  404.687.3542 or jwbateman@dekalbcountyga.gov

  • Henderson Park Community Garden has its first growing season underway.  Stop by and say hi to your fellow neighbors and gardeners.  A crisp green and white sign welcomes you at the entrance.

  • The Henderson Master Plan and Phase I scope have been approved for development by DeKalb County Parks and Recreation Department.  The Phase I plans  are currently in review by the DeKalb County Development department in order to obtain the required permits for construction.

  • Once the plans are approved for permit, DeKalb County purchasing & contracting will release the plans for Invitation to bid to contractors.  It is anticipated, the advertisement for bids will be released by late September and anticipated construction to start early 2011.

Update from Henderson Road neighbor, Yared:

"There seems to be some very good news about HP. First I finally talked to John (the current project manager) and he informed me that while things seems to be slow, they are moving along; the project was approved by the development office and in the process of to being advertised for a bid for construction in the next 30-60 days. More importantly, as you see from the summary from the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners meeting and from what John said, a substantial amount of money, in addition to what was available initially (about 150,000) will be devoted to this project. This will be a significant progress that will allow the county to complete much of the project initially. Please pass this good news to others. Yared"
